Just Add Water

My daughter projectile vomited all of her food a few times in the past 24 hours. I became concerned and took her into the doctor today, who could find nothing wrong with her. At least I feel better.

I also went to my first "new mothers" group today (an hour late, but nonetheless...). I was the only one with twins (no surprise), and I think the oldest mother there. It will be interesting. More on that later.

How much longer?

"How much longer?" he asks, as he stands smoking a ciggarette outside of the office building.

"About six weeks," I answer, as I walk to the passenger side of my car. I've come to pick my husband up from work.

"Boy or a girl?" he responds. He is about 55, dressed neatly in slacks, a dress shirt, and tie. He has the over-weight paunch of prosperity.

"Boy and a girl," I answer, smiling. As I answer, his face turns to a grimace.

"You are one brave lady," he says. I laugh, not knowing how to respond to that, and get into the car.
