I took my mom (and the chickens) out to breakfast at a new restaurant that I'd heard about called the Brown Sugar Kitchen. It's a soul food restaurant in an industrial part of Oakland. The food was amazing! So good. I really liked the ambiance of the restaurant as well, great colors and artwork. The photo above was taken at the restaurant, looking through one of their windows. I want to get back to this area and do some photography. There were many interesting things to see.
I took very few photos today, and the ones that I did take weren't very inspired. Here's the best of the bunch... on a non-photography front, it was a very productive day. Thanks to my mother watching the babies, I got to run some errands which included ordering a new pair of glasses and going to the fabric store to get more fabric for those easy and wonderful skirts.
It was hot, hot, hot, and by the afternoon we were trying to figure out what we could do to beat the heat for a few hours. I really wanted to take the babies to the pool, but the hours for recreational swim didn't work with our hours for babies sleeping, so , oh well.
My husband had to go out of town on a business trip, and so my mom came to stay and help me with the babies. In the afternoon, we took a walk, and came upon this cactus garden. I have never seen these little glass bulbs before, and am not sure how they water or help the garden, but they look pretty neat.
how can I bottle the smell of my babies
and keep it somewhere (like a room in my heart)
to bring out again, many years from now
when I am gray, and today has become a distant memory?
